Rome’s Accademia di Belle Arti
The Academy draws
November 5 - December 17, 2019

Artistic anatomy has been one of the basic subjects for fine arts academies since their foundation. Over the centuries, artists have eagerly searched for a secret symmetry to unveil the mystery of the functioning of the human machine. The anatomical theatre, reconstructed for the Sublimi Anatomie exhibition, will host a drawing studio curated by professors from Rome’s Accademia di Belle Arti, consisting of theoretical lessons (anthropometric canons, physiognomics, anatomical iconography) and life drawing sessions. The lessons, which are open to the public free of charge, will address the vast, fascinating theme of the human body as the starting-point for numerous art movements, from remote Antiquity to the most recent visual art trends.
