Taking as its starting-point the exhibition Il Soggetto Imprevisto. 1978 Arte e Femminismo in Italia (The Unexpected Subject. 1978 Art and Feminism in Italy), this talk focuses on the relationship between body and writing, eschewing the gestural and performing rhetoric of much of the current art scene. In perfect parallelism with the radical theories of Carla Lonzi, many of the artists who will become feminists choose visual poetry and the word as their medium of expression and eversion; but what type of relationship is set up between the two factors involved?
